Back to the blog, blog world

My internet was down and then I was lazy. That's my excuse for not posting in a week.
It honestly has been a very uneventful week, so you're not missing out on a lot. I did wear some pretty cool outfits in my humble opinion, though. The first was a variation on the first outfit I posted here, but instead I wore the sequin skirt under the sweater dress, with navy tights, and brown booties. I was going to post pics of my outfit today but I forgot and now I dont feel like dressing again, as I am already in my jammies :) Maybe I'll put it on again for pics tomorrow, because I have no school! :)
I did take pics of one outfit though:

Trench Coat, Better B; black and white dress, homemade; Tulle skirt, Forever 21; Boots, Eastland

So I was doing some wishful thinking today, pouring over the clothing at Bergdorf Goodman's website. I felt particularly drawn to Jason Wu's dresses. We all know Mr. Wu from First Lady Michelle Obama's inauguration gown:

I found his designs wearable but glam, fresh but also classically influenced. My favorites:

A-Line Tuxedo Dress

Gold Leaf Satin Sheath

Silk Ascot Dress
Tweed-Layered Plisse Dress, Jason Wu for TSE Cashmere

I am now have problems keeping my eyes focused on the screen, so it's probably time for sleep :)

X marks the spot

Found a new treasure today.

<3

Yellow jacket, Fossil; Bag, CNKW; Jumper, First Kiss; Cowl-neck sweater-dress (under jumper), White thermal T-shirt, Mossimo Supply Co.; Anxiety; Jeans, Vs. Miss
It feels very Blair Waldorf-y. She is probably my #1 "style icon."

She has the best coats.
I actually have this same trench coat, except not awesomely in green, but in black. I LOVE it.
I also love this episode *sigh*
Yea, so if any of you live in the anchorage/wasilla area, check out Younique Boutique in Wasilla. Its da best. I try not to spend absolutely all of my money there, but its hard and a losing battle.
I believe I must now go watch a couple GG reruns :)

We Got Innocence For Days

I'm on a My Chemical Romance kick today.
I'm not emo but this band kinda makes me wish I was. Oh oops, I forgot, they aren't "emo"...

They are just so cool.

lovelovelovelove everything about this shot, partially because it reminds me of:

MCR's music video for their song Helena :)

you can probably tell by now that I love all things ballet..I wish I was a ballerina..

I've never been super opposed to the whole "emo-goth" thing..actually I went through a little phase of it myself a couple years ago...
Soooo some of you may be thinking, ew whiney emo kids, with their whiney emo fashion...but I think it's cool, if done right, like MCR.  They incorporate victorian accents, baroque accents, pop culture, and it turns out surprisingly not-cheesy.
So that's all for today, somethin a little different :)

this is what i did with a 4-day weekend?

I had lots of ideas for what I was going to do with these past few days, because there was no school thursday and friday. Yea...nothing got done, except that I applied to four colleges, which I suppose is better than reading Wuthering Heights and making a music video and finishing my dress...
I also didn't wear anything but jeans and t-shirts. It was a very lazy kind of weekend. But then again aren't they all?
I did help my sister with her halloween costume, which turned out nicely. Any guesses?

So I was looking at pictures of celebrities fashion, which I'm a little obsessed with, because it's one thing to see fantastical creations on the runway, and another to see them on actual people (celebs are people? gasp!)
Kelly Osbourne: man what a comeback. Well not really, because this is the first time she's "back".
Anyways, lovely, lovely Fendi cocktail dress, and BEAUTIFUL Amrapali statement necklace. mmmmmmm :)

Kerry Washington: Yes? No?
I kinda like her Missoni maxi dress..even though it does kinda remind me of drapery..

Yay for sequins and sparkles. Boo for disney channel "cutie pies" being in the spotlight.
Can you act? No. Can you sing? No. But apparently you can dress yourself!

Oh so I found this shoe site today, Aldo.com.  I LOVE IT.
check it:

These bring love and joy to my heart. And the kicker? They aren't 235729657293572957 dollars! Hurrah!!

Day Two: I'm glad to see you.

Are you surprised to see me? Yes, two days in a row.
So good news for me, four day weekend! Since today was the last day of school before halloween, I celebrated early by dressing as a halloween-y ballerina to school. Pics didnt turn out too great but here they are:

blurry, yes, but i like my sassy pose

yes i am sitting in a wall
Sequin shirt, Beiga; Tulle skirt, Forever 21; Striped tights, from my 8th grade pirate halloween costume; pointe shoes, thrifted.
Those pointe shoes permanently disfigured my feet, I think. And I didnt even wear them all day. Just during art class and after I got home a little bit. The rest of my day, I just wore my American Eagle ballet flats. Speaking of art class, lots of people dressed up. I guess it's because we are the artsy ones:
the witch hat that I made

So I was reading some archive posts by Tavi, and I watched this oh-so-cute video that she and her sister did: Chalk. It made me want to go make a short film or music video. This is a music video that my dear friend Donna and I made last spring: Insomnia. The song is by my favoritestomgthebestbandever, Electric President. Oh how I love them. Go download their entire discography right now (It's not very much, unfortunately).
Also, both pretending to be a ballerina and seeing this lovely painting the other day make me want to paint something ballerina-ish:

I also checked out a book today, Wuthering Heights, because I have not read enough classics. Hell, I don't read enough period.
So good thing it's a four day weekend.

Day one

I'm going to challenge myself to not 365 days of blogs, but simply 365 blogs. Because there are many days where I don't have time to eat and sleep, let alone blog.
This will be me if I blog more than I eat.
needless to say, I was a little scared when I googled "dead people cartoons"
Anyways, I am going to try to put up pictures of outfits I wear for people (if anyone is reading this...anyone? anyone? Beuller?) to get inspiration from. And so that if I can't figure out what to wear, I can just skip on back to the archives and wear it again :) So..today:

I think I was trying to switch poses right as the self-timer went off...

mmm shoes

Cowl-neck sweater dress, Anxiety; Pink tank, Urban Behavior; Sequin skirt, thrifted; heels, KB & Company
I love the romantic, glamorous feel of sequins. This skirt was an awesome find at Bishop's Attic thrift store in Palmer, AK. $3.50 baby :)
Something I discovered today: As much as I love the ankle-socks-over-tights trend, I felt like it was unflattering to girls like me who are not stick-thin because it made my legs look shorter and squatter than they already are. Buuuut I believe it is a lot more flattering if the top of the socks ends below where your calf starts to widen out. It brings the thinner part to other's attention.

alrighty it is past my bed time...

PS. first snowfall last night :(
here's a picture I took of the lake behind my house this afternoon, when it was super misty and halloween-y:
spooooooky!
